Happy Birthday Ma!

My sweet mother is having a birthday today...

Happy Birthday Mom, Ma, Grandma, Babs.

And since he can't be there to give you a kiss in person, I thought this might help (at least a little)! DSC_0129

I spent some time yesterday cleaning out some drawers that haven't been touched in a while.

You never know what may turn up when you least expect it! Untitled

Oh, the memories we have from that porch...family vacations (sometimes with the addition of friends) were priceless. Such happy times...so much sunscreen, so much love!! Untitled

And this one....the day was so magical (although we both look completely shell shocked). I think it's safe to say that we've both become more photogenic with age!!

I love you, Ma! Hope your day is filled with happiness and love.

Happy Birthday!!

My boys-

Today is a special day.

10 years ago today, my sweet husband became a father.

DSC_0354

I love this shot. Cooper actually took it and if you look closely you can see both of us reflected in Jon's glasses.

10 years ago today, our lives changed forever.

10 years.
A decade.
Double digits.
It doesn't seem possible.

DSC_0360

He's simply the sweetest, most kind, thoughtful, funny, loving, considerate and dedicated child on the planet. I love his little brain, his sense of humor, how independent he's become, how easily he's accepted the challenge of completely starting again and how excited he is to start each new day.

Happy Father's Day to the man I adore and to a wonderful dad.
Happy Birthday to the best kid I know.

I love you both more than words can say.

Love,
Momma

After Hours Easter Egg Hunt-

I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to try for our Easter Egg Hunt. As Cooper gets older I like to try and maintain our traditions but make them age appropriate at the same time.

DSC_0090

Lots of times things seem easy...but they really aren't. This was one of those times.
It took four of us at least 30 minutes to stuff 30 eggs with glow bracelets. If you're thinking about trying it, I'd recommend light colored eggs that are larger than the "normal" egg. We really had to contort the glow bracelets to make them fit inside the eggs (and even used packing tape on some to hold them together).

Good thing we had some wine with dinner!

DSC_0089

In the end it was so worth it- although there is a possibility the adults were more impressed than the kids!

Glowing Easter Eggs- pretty genius.
Thanks guys for playing along!

Christmas House

There are six shopping days left until Christmas.
I'm working on five of them. Hmpfff. I may need to make a few changes to my schedule.

At least my house is ready for the festivities.
Every year I want desperately to join on of the blogland Christmas Tours- and each year I miss the deadline.

That's ok though.
Better late than never.

DSC_0217_8379

Nothing says welcome to our home like a Christmas wreath (for the first time in FOREVER I have a faux wreath....I usually make my own but sometimes cutting corners makes more sense).

DSC_0235_8397

A little bit of tree and our living room mantle.

DSC_0220_8382

I always use a white poinsettia in our entryway...and add a little bling to make it sparkle.

The bannister gets gussied up too!

When Cooper was little, we lived in another house and we had a sweet grandmother of a woman who lived across the street. Cooper loved her and the feeling was mutual. She gave him a nutcracker when he was 3 and he was obsessed with it. Santa saw an opportunity and brings him a new one each year.

DSC_0202_8364

They sit on the kitchen windowsill now, but next year we'll need to find a new spot. Wonder who will join the lineup?

And on the other kitchen window....

DSC_0208_8370

I'm not a huge fan of the nandina bush itself....but I LOVE using it at Christmas. The bunches of red berries are so festive and they're great in arrangements.

I don't have a picture of the whole tree (I'm having trouble with my camera and it's not cooperating AT ALL!).

DSC_0230_8392

Our tree has red balls, white lights and ornaments collected over the years. Santa also brings Cooper a special ornament each year. One of my favorites was this golf cart that magically looks just like ours!! That Santa- he's a whiz with a paintbrush.

DSC_0233_8395

Our house wouldn't be complete at Christmas without the creche.

DSC_0229_8391

It's my absolute favorite...made to match the one my parents have and handmade with love by their dear friend, Uncle Phillip.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Hope your home does too-

30-14

Guess where we were this weekend?

DSC_0112_8009

Hmm- give up?
Maybe this will help-

DSC_0182_8078

We went to the VT vs. BC game!!
Did the graffiti throw you? Yeah, I was thrown off too.

Jon's sister and her hubs have season tickets to Tech and they graciously invited us to come up for the game. And what's a football game without a great tailgate...especially if that tailgate is in an abandoned apartment complex complete with what I think may have been gang signs.

DSC_0171_8067
Goodness, they're cute (and not concerned in the least bit by a little graffiti)!

And as you can tell by our tailgating surroundings (and our beer of choice)....they spoiled us with nothing but the best!

DSC_0118_8015

We had so much fun....laughing, playing, posing, eating, drinking and hanging out together.

DSC_0155_8053

They love our kid & he's crazy about them too.
The day was perfect for a ball game- clear blue skies and crisp weather.

DSC_0188_8084
Also perfect for some brother/sister together time.

It was homecoming- and so the Highty Tighty Band and their Alumni were in all their glory.

DSC_0193_8088

I'm a sucker for a marching band- I always have been. Let's be clear- I wasn't IN the band....nope, no such talent in that area, I'm just a fan.

DSC_0199_8095
They were great!

But then....the boys hit the field.
The stadium was electric.

DSC_0217_8113

DSC_0204_8100

But not as electric as it was when they scored!

DSC_0233_8129

Can you see the people who are horizontal? They're being thrown up in the air to celebrate the score. Can you imagine?

So much fun!!

VT collage

As the sun went down, the scoreboard was in our favor- great ending to a great day!

DSC_0278_8174

But Kathy wasn't done yet....what could make the day even better than it already had been?
DSC_0281_8177

Yup. That's kale salad.

DSC_0282_8178

Kale, yeah!!!!
Enough said.

Thanks Kathy & Mike....we had a blast!!

70, 75 & the rainy weekend

It was a very special weekend...

DSC_0076

with a very special visitor....who came all the way from California-

DSC_0077

Sadly, the weather didn't cooperate with our birthday plans.
At all.

No matter, we made the best of it!

Happy Birthday Mom & Dad

DSC_0086

Thanks for putting up with us- through broken bones, crashed cars, concussions and dropped birthday cakes (and too many happy memories to count!).

We love you dearly!

Twelve

Twelve years ago today we were married.

He still makes me laugh...probably more than he used to
He still makes me dream...we've got so many yet to come true
He still makes me proud...he's accomplished so much in 12 years
He still makes me crazy...there are lots of quirks that come to light in 12 years
He still makes me smile...he's really pretty sweet
He still makes me swoon...I think he's simply dreamy

He's still my #1...and I'm still his!
I still love him...and always will.

Happy Anniversary!!!
